Five members of a “family from hell” were facing life in prison today for murdering a mother-of-two who had married into the family.

Rachel Hudson, 20, died after suffering months of abuse at the hands of her husband, Craig Hudson, 21, and his family.

That family; Craig’s mother, Trudi Hudson, 44, father, Ronald Hudson, 49, his 23-year-old brother, Ronald Junior, 19-year-old brother Shane, and Shane’s girlfriend, Elisabeth Hogg, 19, were all convicted of murder at Nottingham Crown Court this afternoon.

The jury, after more than 14 hours’ deliberations, cleared Craig’s sister, 18-year-old Charlene Hudson, of killing Rachel.

The family held Rachel prisoner at their home in the Stockhill area of Nottingham for months before finally battering her to death in March last year.

Her body was found wrapped in a carpet and dumped in the grounds of Newstead Abbey, the ancestral home of the poet, Lord Byron.

She was so emaciated and badly beaten that police initially thought they were dealing with the murder of a young man.
