Couple celebrate first gay wedding in Scotland

The first gay wedding in Scotland passed off today without a hitch.

John Maguire and Laurence Scott-Mackay tied the knot in Edinburgh this morning.

The couple live in California but returned to their home country to unite under the Civil Partnership Act.

“We've achieved a huge milestone,” said Maguire, “it's equality.”

“We can stand amongst our peers, and we will be encouraged and supported and nurtured by our country.

“Our relationship is just as valid as anyone else’s now."
