Trial resumes of British consulate bomb suspects
An Istanbul court today resumed the trial of 72 al-Qaida-linked suspects accused of carrying out a series of suicide bombings in Istanbul in 2003, which killed 60 people.
Twenty-nine of the suspects were brought to the courthouse for today’s hearing, handcuffed and with paramilitary police officers on each arm.
The November 2003 blasts targeted two synagogues, the British Consulate and the local headquarters of HSBC bank.
