Backpackers run over on 4x4 track in Australia
Two British backpackers were run over early today on an island off Australia’s east coast after falling asleep on a sandy track used by four-wheel-drive vehicles.
Neither tourist suffered life-threatening injuries, but one of them, a 25-year-old man, was airlifted off Fraser Island to hospital for treatment for cuts to his head and a suspected broken arm and fractured ribs, a rescue helicopter pilot said.
