Chirac calls for institutional EU reform

President Jacques Chirac today urged the European Union to take up institutional reform next year, the “next phase” after EU leaders reached a new spending accord.

“Our institutions are not really adapted today to a wider and modern Europe,” Chirac told reporters upon his return home from an EU summit in Brussels.
