The Saddam Hussein trial resumed in Baghdad today after a lengthy delay but without the ex-president, who had declared that he would not take part in an “unjust” court.

The seven other defendants and Saddam’s lawyers were present in the courtroom when Chief Judge Rizgar Mohammed Amin convened the session at 3pm (12pm Irish time).
