Palestinians arrest four Islamic Jihad militants

The Palestinian Authority today arrested four Islamic Jihad militants in the West Bank, a day after the group carried out a suicide bombing that killed five people at an Israeli shopping centre.

The Palestinian Authority has so far been reluctant to confront militant groups for fear of internal unrest. But yesterday’s suicide bombing brought renewed calls from the United States and Israel for Palestinian leader Mahmoud Abbas to crack down on the groups.
