European Commission President Jose Manuel Barroso warned today that European Union plans to take in Romania and Bulgaria in 2007 would be impossible with Britain’s EU budget proposal, which foresees cuts in aid to new member nations.

“We cannot go on with further enlargement with this proposal of the British presidency, it’s very clear,” he said.
