Pregnant football fan gets midwife escort to game

A heavily pregnant football supporter is being escorted to a match by a midwife in case she goes into labour.

Jo Roach, 34, from Histon, near Cambridge, is due to have her third child on December 10.

But the avid Histon FC supporter and her family are determined not to miss the team’s FA Cup second round match against Nuneaton tomorrow.

As a token of appreciation for the family’s support, the club has arranged for a midwife to escort Mrs Roach to the game in case the baby decides to make an early arrival.

The club has also organised for a chauffeur driven car to transport Mrs Roach, her eldest son Samuel, five, and husband Jonathan, 40, to the match in Nuneaton.

The car provided by Vindis Skoda will be on hand to detour to the nearest maternity ward should the unexpected happen.

Mrs Roach said: “I am really looking forward to the match and am delighted the club has gone to such lengths to look after me and my family.”

She said her family first began supporting Histon when they played in the FA Cup last year.

“We wanted to support our local team and have been hooked ever since,” she said.
