Police arrest six in international child porn ring
Police have arrested six suspects in a special operation against an international child pornography ring, officials said today.
Policemen seized more than 30,000 pictures and at least 2 gigabytes of porn movies with rape scenes involving girls and boys aged between three and 12, said Katya Ilieva, a spokeswoman for a special police unit fighting organised crime.
On some of the movies, the children appeared drugged, she said.
The material was shot in Russia's Far East, in Ukraine and other former Soviet republics, Ilieva said.
It was stored on Bulgarian internet servers, and was used mainly by people located in western Europe and the United States.
The police operation co-ordinated by the US FBI was to continue in other countries, and more arrests were expected.
