US completes withdrawal from Uzbek base

The US military today completed its withdrawal from an air base in Uzbekistan that has been an important hub for American military operations in Afghanistan, a US official said.

“According to the military attache in Tashkent, at 3.40pm local time, the last plane left the air base in Karshi-Khanabad,” a spokesman for the US Embassy in Tashkent said.
