'More than 24 million' infected with HIV

The number of people living with HIV around the world has reached its highest level, with more than 40 million now infected, a report revealed today.

The Aids Epidemic Update 2005 showed that an estimated 40.3 million people now have HIV – up from 37.5 million in 2003.
