EU foreign ministers in Brussels today authorised the start of negotiations on an agreement to prepare Bosnia for EU membership, a decade after the Balkan nation was ravaged by Europe’s worst fighting since the Second World War.

EU foreign ministers in Brussels today authorised the start of negotiations on an agreement to prepare Bosnia for EU membership, a decade after the Balkan nation was ravaged by Europe’s worst fighting since the Second World War.

The decision came on the eve of ceremonies in Washington marking the 10th anniversary of the peace agreement that ended Bosnia’s 1992-1995 war.
