Four hens discovered dead in a remote Romanian village in the Danube Delta have tested positive for the deadly H5N1 strain of the bird flu virus, the government said today.

Tests from an international laboratory in Britain confirmed that the hens which came from the village of Caraorman, unreachable by road, have the dead strain, the Agriculture Ministry said on its website.
