A British man was today convicted of sexually assaulting and murdering a Spanish teenager in 2003 and sentenced to 36 years in jail.

A British man was today convicted of sexually assaulting and murdering a Spanish teenager in 2003 and sentenced to 36 years in jail.

A court in the southern city of Málaga sentenced Tony King (aged 40), to 23 years for murder, eight years for sexual assault and five years for illegal detention.

He was also ordered to pay €300,000 to the parents of the victim, Sonia Carabantes, who died in a town near Málaga.

Carabantes disappeared from her hometown of Coín on the morning of August 14, 2003.

Her body was found five days later, naked and partially buried under rocks in an abandoned lot close to Coín.
