Possible terror link between Britain and Denmark

Danish police are investigating a possible link between a group of young Muslims arrested in Denmark in a terror probe and three people detained in a similar case in Britain, an official said today.

Seven suspects were arrested last month in Denmark on suspicion of belonging to or helping a network planning a terror attack in Europe.

ā€œAll relevant events and investigations are being considered in the (Danish) investigation and that’s why the arrests in Britain are part of our consideration,ā€ police spokesman Sten Skovgaard Larsen said in a statement.

ā€œAt the present time I cannot confirm whether there is a connection,ā€ he added.

On November 4, three men suspected of involvement in terrorism appeared in a London court, charged with terrorist fund-raising and conspiracy to murder.

Danish police have confirmed their investigation was linked to a raid in Bosnia, where local police arrested a Swede and a Turk on suspicion of preparing terrorist activities.

Skovgaard Larsen confirmed that Danish investigators had travelled to Sarajevo to interview Cesur Abdulkadir, the Turkish national who had a residence permit in Denmark.

ā€œWe’re in close dialogue with the authorities in Sarajevo,ā€ he said.

London’s Metropolitan Police declined to say whether they had sent detectives to Sarajevo to investigate possible links between the suspect there and the British plot.
