Syria considers Hariri probe request

Syria is considering a UN request to question six Syrian officials in the investigation into the assassination of former Lebanese Prime Minister Rafik Hariri, a Foreign Ministry official said today.

The official said the request by chief UN investigator, German Prosecutor Detlev Mehlis, was received by the Foreign Ministry yesterday.

The official declined to give the identity of the people that the investigators want to question, or say whether the United Nations wanted to question them in Syria or outside.
