Bush Sr enjoyed Clinton collaboration

Former President George HW Bush, reminiscing about his political life, said at a fundraiser yesterday that he has enjoyed working with former President Bill Clinton.

“Who’d have thought that I’d be working with Bill Clinton, of all people?” said Bush, a Republican who teamed up with the Democrat this year to help victims of the Indian Ocean tsunami and Hurricane Katrina, which devastated the US Gulf Coast.

He said he had nothing but praise for Clinton, even though people on the far right have criticised Bush and people on the far left have criticised Clinton for their working together.

“We don’t go into a lot of differences on political issues,” Bush said. “It’s been an eye-opening and enjoyable experience for me to work with him on something truly apolitical.”
