Bird flu confirmed in another Russian region

Veterinary workers have discovered bird flu in a flock in the central Russian region of Tambov, the Emergency Situations Ministry said today.

Seventy birds in the village of Yuzhny in the Tambov region, about 250 miles south-east of Moscow, have fallen ill with the disease, said ministry spokeswoman Veronika Smolskaya.
