A bird that died in UK quarantine has been found to have a severe strain of avian flu, the Department for Environment Food and Rural Affairs confirmed.

Tests are being carried out after the H5 strain of the virus was isolated in a bird imported from South America, which arrived in this country last month and died a couple of days ago.
