A suicide attacker set off explosives hidden beneath his clothing outside an Iraqi army recruitment centre in northwest Iraq today, at least killing 30 Iraqis and wounding 35, officials said.

The blast occurred near the first of two checkpoints outside the centre in Tal Afar, where men were gathering to apply for jobs there, said army Captain Raad Ahmed and Brigadier Najim Abdullah, the town’s police chief.
