Eleven killed, 13 injured in Syrian accident

Eleven people were killed and 13 others injured when a minibus collided with with a truck loaded with sugar in central Syria, the official Syrian Arab News Agency said today.

The agency said the ccident took place yesterday on the Homs-Palmyra highway 153 miles northeast of Damascus.

It did not give the cause of the accident.

The injured, many of whom were in serious condition, were admitted to Palmyra hospital, SANA said.

Road accidents are common in Syria and are usually blamed on high speeds and careless driving.
