UN officer killed in Somalia

Two gunmen shot dead a United Nations security officer as he walked home in south-west Somalia, prompting the organisation to evacuate 13 staff from the Indian Ocean port of Kismayo, UN officials said today.

It was not immediately clear why the assailants targeted Mohamuud Musse Gurage last night.
