At least five killed by caravan raiders
Five men were killed and four other people were critically injured in a series of attacks at caravan parks in and around an American city today, police said.
It was not immediately clear how the victims of the attacks around Tifton, Georgia, were killed or why, said the state’s Bureau of Investigation spokesman John Bankhead.
The attacks were apparently carried out by criminals breaking into people’s homes.
Three took place in Tift County, Georgia, and a fourth in neighbouring Colquitt County, Georgia.
“We think they’re tied together,” said Colquitt County Sheriff’s Captain Hal Suber.
Investigators said they were trying to piece together descriptions of suspects.
In the Colquitt County attack, a man was shot in the head and beaten with a baseball bat, and his wife was hit in the mouth.
The man’s condition was not released, although it appeared the woman would recover.
The attacks took place in southern Georgia, about 180 miles south of Atlanta.
