US soldiers 'posted photos of Iraqi bodies on web'

The Pentagon is to investigate claims that US soldiers posted pictures of Iraqi corpses on the internet in return for access to porn.

The photos show dismembered bodies and limbs and include captions also allegedly written by troops.

The Council on American-Islamic Relations said the pictures may be in violation of international military law.

Following the Abu Ghraib scandal, Defence officials are worried America's war effort in Iraq could be badly affected by the latest claims.
