Authorities have seized stashes of electronic material and put about 60 people under investigation in a child pornography crackdown involving several European countries, Italian police said today.

Carabinieri paramilitary police in Rome said raids had been carried out in Italy, Denmark, France, the Netherlands, Sweden and Britain as part of an international investigation code named Ice Breaker 2.

Among the materials seized were computers, DVDs, CD-ROMs, video tapes, and memory cards for digital cameras.

Carabinieri said a prior phase of the investigation, carried out with European police agency Europol, led to the arrest of 25 people in 13 European countries in June, 2004.
