Los Angeles bound plane to make emergency landing

Smoke was detected in the cabin of a United Airlines flight from Tokyo to Los Angeles today, and the plane was to make emergency landing in Tokyo, an official said.

The smoke appeared about an hour after Flight UA890 took off from Narita airport in Tokyo, and the pilot requested an emergency landing, said Atsushi Ohira, a Narita spokesman.
