Gunmen execute 17 villagers in Iraq

Gunmen wearing military uniforms surrounded a village north of Baghdad early today and executed 17 men, police said.

Police Lt. Waleed al-Hayali from the area of Taaji, 16 miles north of Baghdad, said the gunmen detained the victims after searching the village. They were handcuffed and blindfolded and were later shot at a site one mile from the village.
