Iraqi police Captain Mushtaq Kadim said the incident had taken place in the southern Iraqi city, where British forces are based.

A British military spokesman, speaking on condition of anonymity, said he could only “confirm that an incident took place. The area has been secured and an investigation is ongoing.”
