Funerals underway in Iraq for stampede victims

Iraqis are burying the last of the more than 1,000 people who were killed in last Tuedsay’s stampede in Baghdad.

Many of the victims, mainly women and children, were crushedwhen a rumour of a suicide bomber spread through a massive crowd of Shia muslims who were attending a religious ceremony.

Hundreds more died when a bridge over the River Tigris collapsed during the stampede.

Hundreds of Shias have today marched in Basra to back the new constitution and to mourn those who died.
