Iraqi parliament will not meet on draft constitution

No meeting of the Iraqi parliament to decide on the draft constitution will be held today and no date for a new session has been set, said the head of the assembly’s media department.

Bishro Ibrahim’s comments signalled no agreement had been reached among the different factions issues including federalism which prevented a vote on the document as the last two deadlines passed.

Parliament speaker Hajim al-Hassani deferred a vote on the document last Monday and said three days of consultations would be held to try to win over Sunni Arab negotiators.
