Brussels police in stand-off with armed hostage-taker

An armed man held two women hostage in a Brussels apartment today, continuing a tense stand-off with police that began last night.

Police deployed snipers and cordoned off the area around Brussels’ central railway station, snarling traffic in the city centre.
