Hundreds of thousands wait for new Pope
Hundreds of thousands of young people from 184 countries jammed into Cologne, Germany, for the Roman Catholic Church’s 20th World Youth Day, singing and praying together as they awaited the arrival today of Pope Benedict XVI.
As Benedict’s plane left Rome, people already were staking out choice spots on the bank of the Rhine River to watch the German-born Pope sail through the city aboard a 270-foot-long cruise ship.
