Gun scare at London football match

Armed police were called to a championship football match today after a club director apparently had a gun held to his head.

Several men were arrested at Queens Park Rangers’ ground in west London after Gianni Paladini was reportedly threatened with the weapon near the boardroom during their 2-1 win over Sheffield United, said police.

Armed officers were deployed within the Loftus Road ground and Mr Paladini was taken to Hammersmith police station, a Metropolitan Police spokeswoman said.

She added that it was still unclear how many men had been arrested in connection with the incident, which took place at around 3pm.

“No-one was injured and no shots were fired,” she said.
