Mugabe rejects talks effort
Zimbabwe President Robert Mugabe has spurned efforts by other African leaders to get him to talk to the head of Zimbabwe’s main opposition party, the government-controlled daily newspaper The Herald reported today.
Nigeria’s President Olusegun Obasanjo, current head of the African Union, had hoped to convene talks with Mozambique’s retired President Joaquim Chissano as intermediary, The Herald reported, saying it “understood the former Mozambican leader has been frantically trying to reach President Mugabe”.
