Mother admits killing babies after nine bodies found
A woman in eastern Germany has admitted killing several of her children shortly after their birth, police said today, two days after investigators found the bodies of nine infants.
The 39-year-old told prosecutors she had killed several of her children, but said she was not able to recall killing all nine, said police spokesman Peter Salender said.
“Sometimes she can remember, sometimes not,” Salender said.
The woman, whose name has not been released, was arrested after police on Sunday discovered the bodies on a plot of land in Brieskow-Finkenheerd, a village close to the Polish border.
Officials suspect she killed all nine between 1988 and 2004 and buried their bodies in flower pots and a fish tank on the plot, which belongs to her parents.
