Police commander assassinated in Baghdad
An Iraqi police commander was gunned down today in north-eastern Baghdad.
Co Mizhir Hamad Yousif, director of the Abu Ghraib police station, was ambushed on his way to work by three gunmen, said Capt Mohammed Izzedin. Yousif’s driver was also injured in the attack.
The attack occurred at about 9am in the north-eastern neighbourhood of New Baghdad, Izzedin said.
Insurgents frequently target Iraqi security forces in an attempt to further destabilise the country.
