US president 'fit for duty' after check-up

President George W Bush was pronounced “fit for duty” after an annual check-up today that showed that the 59-year-old leader, an avid mountain bike rider, has lost 8lb (nearly 4kg) since his last physical exam in December.

“I’m feeling pretty good,” Bush said as he left the National Naval Medical Centre in suburban Washington.
