A suicide attacker detonated an explosive belt today among a crowd of Iraqi army recruits in a town near the Syrian border.

At least 25 people have been killed and 35 wounded, a police general said.

The attack occurred in Rabiah about 230 miles north of Baghdad, Brig. Gen. Saeed Ahmed said.

Rabiah is located about six miles east of the Syrian border along the main highway from Mosul.
