'Many hurt' in India train explosion

An explosion in a passenger train in northern India injured an unknown number of passengers today, television reports said.

The train was near the town of Jaunpur, in Uttar Pradesh state, about 400 miles east of New Delhi, when the explosion occurred, the reports said.

No further details were immediately available and railway authorities were not available for comment.
