About 50 suspected Taliban militants were killed in fighting with US and Afghan forces in southern Afghanistan, a provincial governor said today.

The fighting late last night in Uruzgan province’s Dihrawud district came during an offensive against a rebel camp, Governor Janan Mohammed Khan said.
