Train services on busy rail lines out of London were suspended today because of a security alert at a railway station, threatening travel chaos for workers trying to get home tonight.

Train services on busy rail lines out of London were suspended today because of a security alert at a railway station, threatening travel chaos for workers trying to get home tonight.

Midland Mainline said its trains were not running into or out of St Pancras because of the alert at St Albans station.

Services were terminating at Luton, Bedford or Kettering stations.
