Israeli fire targets Hezbollah infiltrators

Israeli troops today fired on two Hezbollah guerrillas who had infiltrated northern Israel, part of a group that attacked Israeli soldiers a day before, the army said.

One of the guerrillas was hit by the Israeli fire, though his condition was not known, the army spokesman’s office said. The other escaped.

Hezbollah yesterday attacked three Israeli positions in Chebaa Farms, an area where the borders of Lebanon, Syria and Israel meet, Hezbollah’s Al Manar TV channel and Lebanese security officials said.

The guerrillas fired rocket-propelled grenades and mortars at the Israeli positions, killing an Israeli soldier.
