Palestinian gunmen opened fire at a sports club in the West Bank refugee camp of Balata this morning during a visit by Palestinian Prime Minister Ahmed Qureia, but Qureia wasn’t hurt, witnesses said.

Gunmen inside the building fired in the air, at a distance of more than 100 yards from the prime minister, the witnesses said.

Others fired shots at the building, but the bullets didn’t penetrate the walls, they said.

An explosive device was detonated as Qureia and his entourage were leaving.
