Basque group halts attacks on politicians

The Basque separatist group ETA issued a statement today saying it had halted attacks against “elected members of political parties".

The statement, published in the radical Basque daily Gara, said that as of June 1 ETA had “closed the front” against elected politicians because of changes it had noticed in the political atmosphere.
