Wedding party guests killed in crash
A minibus carrying members of a wedding party collided with a car on a road in Russia’s Dagestan region today, killing at least nine people and injuring 11 others, police said.
The Mercedes minibus was in the wrong lane, driving against traffic, when it hit a BMW. The car was destroyed by fire following the crash, Dagestan’s traffic police chief Rasul Gazimagomedov said.
Gazimagomedov said all four people in the car were killed, but the Interfax news agency reported that at least 11 people were killed in the accident – three from the car and eight from the minibus, which officials said was part of a wedding motorcade.
The crash occurred on a highway about 43 miles northwest of Dagestan’s capital, Makhachkala.
Makhachkala is about 1,000 miles south of Moscow.
