Eleven bus passengers electrocuted in India
A high-voltage wire fell on a bus today, killing 11 passengers and injuring 15 others in the southern Indian state of Andhra Pradesh.
The passengers died instantly when the wire fell on the state-owned bus in the village of Ponnampally, said local police chief VC Sajjanar.
It was not immediately clear what caused the wire to break loose from the electric pole, Sajjanar said.
Three school teachers travelling to work were among those killed, he said.
Ponnampally is about 280 miles south of the state capital, Hyderabad.
