A Pakistan International Airlines passenger jet bound for Britain today made an emergency landing in the southern city of Karachi because of engine trouble, an airline spokeswoman said.

No one was reported hurt.

The Boeing 747 landed in Karachi after one of its engines failed because a bird flew into it, PIA spokeswoman Samina Pervez said from Karachi.

PIA flight PK701 with 326 passengers and 19 crew members was travelling to Manchester, England, from the capital Islamabad.

The flight’s passengers left Karachi on another plane, Pervez said.
