11 die in Russian bus crash

Eleven people were killed and 15 injured when a truck ploughed into a passenger bus in the central Russian region of Oryol, the Emergency Situations Ministry said today.

The crash occurred late last night when the truck veered into oncoming traffic, Rossiya state television reported.

Oryol police spokeswoman said that the truck had been speeding, and Rossiya said investigators were trying to determine whether the driver had fallen asleep behind the wheel.

Both vehicles’ drivers were among those killed.
