Italian govt wins confidence vote

Premier Silvio Berlusconi’s government won a vote of confidence today tied to a decree aimed at making Italy’s economy more competitive.

The government called the vote in the lower house of parliament to win approval on the measure before a deadline later this week. The measure passed 313 to 219.
